Comparative in Vitro Antioxidant Activities of Methanol Extracts OF Phragmanthera incana Leaves from Guava, Cashew, Mango and Kolanut Trees

The therapeutic effects of several plants used in traditional medicine are usually attributed to their antioxidant potential. Phragmanthera incana belonging the family Loranthaceae is a species mistletoe commonly found South-Western part Nigeria and ethno-medicinally management diseases such as diabetes, hypertension oxidative stress. This study evaluates compare potential methanol extracts P. leaves hemi-parasitic on Guava, Cashew, Mango Kolanut trees using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) Total Capacity (TAC). from kolanut exhibited higher DPPH scavenging activity reduces ferric ion ferrous concentration dependent manner when compared with other test while guava demonstrated highest TAC extracts. profile shown by activity, FRAP, selected host dose indicate that rich source antioxidants can possibly potentiate vivo could serve sources for nutritional purposes.
